My Festive Family Kitchen - Chocolate Spiders
Sometimes the very best things are also the most simple. When I was a kid, every Christmas Grandma would make a heap of treats (rum balls, apricot balls, white christmas etc…) and in there, there was always a little collection of chocolate spiders. I don’t remember having them at any other time, they are purely a Christmas treat in my mind.
I always thought they must be such a tricky thing to make because they taste so wonderful. Little did I know that they were incredibly simple. This recipe from my Grandma is actually a 3 ingredient dish from the back of a Chang’s Fried Noodles packet, but let’s just keep that a secret between us, hey? No one needs to know just how easy these are.
So just grab chocolate (I’m of the opinion that you need to use the best chocolate possible, so even though the recipe says cooking chocolate, I use Cadbury’s which is my favourite) and crunchy peanut butter and put in the microwave on high for about 90 seconds.
When melted, mix in a packet of chang’s fried noodles and stir.
Place spoonfuls of mixture onto a baking tray covered with baking paper and put it in the fridge until set. Then eat and enjoy!

That’s so simple but sounds really delicious! 😀 Love the addition of peanut butter!

This blog is looking amazing! Nice work Jodes
PS - Are we going to see caramel slice on here soon? The piece I just nicked from the fridge was YUM - I think I’ll have to make that one for Christmas day.

Hi Lorraine. The no peanut butter requirement at schools can sure make it hard! I imagine you could just omit the peanut butter altogether. You may just need to add a little extra chocolate to coat the noodles better. I’m sure they will still be tasty and they will set fine, but since the chocolate will be the main flavour you will probably want to use a good quality chocolate. I’d love to hear how you go with them.
